Workshop – SDG Conference 2026

Turning SDGs into Local Action: Lessons from University-Led Climate and Planetary Health Initiatives

This workshop explores how universities can move beyond policy commitments to become active platforms for local SDG implementation and collaborative climate action. Drawing on real-world experiences from university-led climate, urban sustainability, and planetary health initiatives, the session highlights how teaching, research, campus operations, and community engagement can be integrated into living laboratories for sustainable development. Participants will gain practical insights into building cross-sector partnerships, translating research into policy-relevant action, and overcoming common challenges such as coordination gaps, institutional silos, and sustaining long-term impact. The session emphasizes actionable models and lessons learned that can be adapted by universities, local governments, and civil society actors working towards a sustainable future.
